Congratulations Councilmember Rahman on your appointment to the Town Council last night! We appreciate your willingness to step forward and serve.
Mr. Rahman currently serves as a Principal Finance Business Partner, where he is responsible for financial planning, forecasting, and consolidation for four global technology business units representing more than $1 billion in revenue and more than $500 million in operating expenses. He oversees full profit-and-loss responsibilities, develops financial reporting and dashboards, and works directly with senior executives to evaluate growth, profitability, investments, and operational performance.
Prior to that, Rahman served as an Associate Director of Finance, managing a $300+ million operating-expense portfolio and providing senior leadership with analysis concerning staffing, vendor spending, and market costs. In another role, he managed a $200+ million operating budget and contributed to cost-saving initiatives exceeding $1 million. His earlier experience further developed his background in accounting, auditing, financial reporting, investment analysis, and corporate transactions.
His academic background is equally impressive. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He has also been recognized professionally for automation, innovation, and performance
Rahman’s professional experience directly translates to those responsibilities. He understands budgets, expenditures, contracts, forecasting, financial controls, cost savings, and long-term planning—skills that can help ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly. His experience identifying financial risks and finding efficiencies would provide the Town Board with an analytical perspective when evaluating budgets, capital projects, contracts, and departmental needs.
Just as importantly, his career demonstrates an ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders, analyze complicated information, explain financial results clearly, and turn data into practical recommendations. Those are valuable qualities for a councilmember who must listen to residents, work with fellow board members and department heads, and make decisions that affect the entire community.
Parvez Rahman brings a fresh perspective, significant financial and management expertise, and a strong commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources. His background in managing hundreds of millions of dollars, identifying savings, improving efficiency, and advising organizational leadership makes him exceptionally well prepared to serve the residents of Cheektowaga as a Councilmember.
